Why Feed Fresh Food? Making meals for your pet at home is not a new concept; it is what people have done for most of the thousands of years that we have had companion animals. Commercially processed pet food has only been available for about 60 years. During this time, we have witnessed a dramatic increase in cancers and other long-term, chronic conditions such as arthritis, allergies, and obesity. Although it seems convenient and cheap, commercial pet food is highly processed and therefore lacks many of the vitamins, minerals, and enzymes essential for your pet's optimal health. In addition, the ingredients used in commercial pet food are often not fit for human consumption (or animal consumption). Commercial pet foods (wet or dry) contain slaughterhouse offal, 4D meats (Dead, Diseased, Dying, or Disabled), and grain ingredients that are simply filler to increase bulk/calories. Even premium pet foods containing these ingredients are preserved with chemicals known to cause cancer. The worst part is that many commercial pet foods even contain euthanized animals from shelters and the drugs used to euthanize are still present in the finished product. Why Feed Raw Food? Your pet's digestive system has evolved over millions of years to eat raw meat. Dogs have been human companions for about 14,000 years—a very short time in evolutionary history. People have kept cats as pets for the even shorter period of about 4,000 years. As carnivores, the bodies of dogs and cats are designed to derive needed nutrients from raw food. The more closely we can simulate the carnivore's natural raw diet, the better job we do of providing the nutrients essential to their good health. The wild carnivorous relatives of our dogs and cats do not cook their food. Heat processing destroys vital amino acids, vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and antioxidants. Raw meats, fish, and eggs provide an array of nutrients that processed foods do not. Our pet food contains undamaged amino acids and proteins, antioxidants, enzymes, essential fatty acids, and naturally occurring vitamins and minerals. Why Feed NDN Pet Food? Unlike other processed pet foods, all of the meats we use are USDA inspected, hormone and antibiotic free, and free range/grass fed. The majority of the vegetables are organically and sustainably grown by The Shady Grove Farm. The Shady Grove Farm can not grow ginger and papaya, so vegetable ingredients like that are sourced from organic wholesalers. Our pet foods are prepared raw from fresh human grade ingredients. They are packaged in convenient one-pound bags and then frozen to preserve their quality. We use no substandard ingredients, by-products, preservatives, or chemicals. Our products replicate the pets' natural and biologically appropriate diet to encourage optimum health and wellness.
